An Unforgettable Diving Adventure: Exploring Y-40 The Deep Joy with Divebase Malta

Yesterday was an unforgettable day for me and my fellow dive buddies from the Divebase Malta diving club. We travelled from different countries across Europe to gather in Y-40 The Deep Joy, an incredible 42-meter-deep thermal water pool in Montegrotto Padua, Italy.

The excitement was palpable as we geared up and made our way into the water. The temperature was just more than perfect and as we dove deeper, the serenity of the underwater world took over. Lots of bobbles going up and the 50-minute dive felt like just few minutes, filled with adventure and new experiences.

As we reached the bottom it was already time to go shallower. At 10 meters we explored the caves. We even went upside down under the glass tunnel, which was a unique experience in itself. We sang in pockets of air and played with the spectators on the windows, making them smile and laugh. It was truly a magical moment.

After the dive, we headed to a typical local restaurant for dinner, where we relived our experiences from the day over a delicious meal. It was a wonderful opportunity for us to bond as a diving community, and I am grateful for the memories we made.

Y-40, the Deep Joy was the world's deepest pool with thermal water and is located in the Hotel Millepini in Montegrotto Terme, Padua, Italy. The pool was designed by architect Emanuele Boaretto and was opened on June 5, 2014. It was recognized by Guinness World Records as the deepest pool in the world on its opening day and as of 2023, it is still the deepest thermal water pool. The pool is 42 meters deep and has underwater caves designed for diving, making it suitable for both freedivers and scuba divers for training purposes.

DiveBase Malta is a diving centre located in the Maltese Islands. It offers a variety of diving courses and activities, including scuba diving, freediving, and snorkeling. The centre also has a retail shop, making it a convenient stop for divers looking to explore the underwater beauty of Malta.
